call for submissions.
CTSJ is an international leader in publishing original undergraduate articles and artwork in its field. We are dedicated to providing a forum for undergraduate students to develop and share critical research and writing on the intersections of ‘race,’ ‘gender,’ ‘class,’ ‘ability,’ ‘sexuality,’ and ‘nationality,’ as they relate to problems of social justice by utilizing the analytic and deconstructive tools of critical theory.
We seek to foster an exchange of ideas across disciplines and to deepen understandings of systems of power and injustice. The Journal advances Occidental College’s mission to critically and thoughtfully engage with modern political and cultural trends.
The Editorial Staff is proud to announce that in Volume 7, for the first time, we will be accepting poetry submissions for publication. We are looking for poetry that embodies and extends our mission by at once utilizing and deconstructing the lines between poetics, theory, and social justice. We hope to showcase the kind of radical reinventions made possible by a poetics of critical theory.
Poetry guidelines include:
Minimum three poems per person
12 point font, Times New Roman, single-spaced
One poem per page
Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format
Submitted poems cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: “publication” in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. By submitting material to CTSJ, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at CTSJ.
Please, send submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
